Oculus Go Will be Off Now
The Oculus Go, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and now Facebook has decided to discontinue the Oculus Go VR headset. The Oculus Go was launched in 2017 by Facebook in a partnership with Xiaomi. The VR headset was entry-level and had only 3 degrees of freedom(3DoF) and having a 5.5-inch LCD screen with 1280X1440 per eye, with a refresh rate of 71Hz and a 2600mAh battery that could give you 2 to 2.5 hours of gaming. Its successor is Oculus Quest which has better specifications like OLED display, Snapdragon 835, active cooling, 6DoF. So the talks are that Facebook is planning to upgrade the Oculus Quest and that will make the current Oculus Quest a little more affordable so there will be less scope for the Oculus Go, keeping that in mind Facebook is going to scratch the sales of the Oculus Go this year and will not be releasing any VR headsets with 3DoF. But don’t worry if you own an Oculus Go, you will still be receiving the bug fixes and security updates by 2022. However, there will be no updates for apps and new apps after December 18, 2020. With this Facebook will also be working to ease the distribution of Oculus Quest apps outside of the Oculus Store.
